چکیده

Laboratory diagnosis of APS relies on the demonstration of positive antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL), including anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) and/or anti2 glycoprotein I antibody (anti2GPI) by an in-house or commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) or lupus anticoagulant (LA) by a coagulation-based test. The relationship between aPL and thrombosis has been abundantly studied. However, the reported results, largely influenced by differences in study design, patient population and antibody assays, have been controversial and the precise serological ‘fingerprint’ of the patients most at risk of thrombosis remains elusive.

Comparison of Antiphospholipid Antibodies between Preeclamptsia and Normal Pregnant Women

Antiphospholipid antibodies (APLA) may be detected in normal pregnancies and also may cause thrombosis, recurrent fetal loss, placental infarction and preeclampsia. In the present study the possible differences in APLA titer between healthy pregnant women and preeclampsia cases without history of thrombosis was examined. The APLA titer in 50 healthy pregnant women with 50 preeclampsia cases wit...

Antiphospholipid syndrome is an autoimmune condition characterized by recurrent vascular thrombosis, pregnancy loss and thrombocytopenia associated with moderate to high levels of antiphospholipid antibodies. Most of clinical features are results of thrombotic phenomena. The pathophysiologic basis ot this syndrome is still unknown. the diagnosis of this syndrome is made by combination of clinic...

Dendritic cells: an important link between antiphospholipid antibodies, endothelial dysfunction, and atherosclerosis in autoimmune and non-autoimmune diseases.

The presence of dendritic cells, antigen-presenting cells that link innate and adaptive immunity, is necessary to generate and maintain the production of antiphospholipid antibodies in response to exposed intracellular phospholipids on the outer surface of apoptotic cells. In turn, antiphospholipid antibodies enhance dendritic cell-induced inflammatory and proatherogenic responses in a number o...

Anticardiolipin Antibodies in Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Background: Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) can either occur as a primary syndrome or associated with other autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) of IgG and/or IgM isotype in blood, measured by a standardized ELISA is the most acceptable laboratory criteria. APS IgG isotype, particularly IgG2 subclass is more strongly associated ...

Antiphospholipid Antibodies – Detection and Clinical Importance

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a common and very devastating disease. It is an autoimmune disease, which differs from most other systemic autoimmune illnesses by its propensity to develop thrombosis. APS is defined as the co-occurrence of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) with the characteristic clinical symptoms. The problem exists on the laboratory side of the diagnosis which is important...
